The Original Polar Fleece

In 1981, Polartec forever changed the way the world dresses for cold weather with the invention of polar synthetic fleece and Classic 200 is the fleece that started it all. This fleece replaced traditional wool as the go-to all-purpose insulating layer fabric of choice. By engineering polyester fibers into a distinctly innovative knit construction, they created a more durable and versatile outerwear fabric than anything in use at the time. After more than 30 years their fleece remains the cornerstone of thermal insulating materials for its proven durability, lightweight warmth and fast drying characteristics. The quality is achieved by using premium hydrophobic polyester yarns to repel moisture and speed up drying. The lofted fibers create thermal air pockets to retain warmth while providing optimal breathability.  Many styles are now made with recycled PET yards.  You will find this information under the Content tab.

Polartec Classic 200 Weight Fleece got it's name from the gsm (grams per square meter) of the styles.  All 200 weight fleeces have a gsm in the 200's.  These fleeces are provide:

• fast drying fibers
• durability
• warmth without weight
• very good breathability
